Life as of Lately
More than three months have come and passed since we moved from our place in Augusta to our new place just north of Atlanta, hoping for more work and school opportunities for both of us down the road. As much as I loved Augusta and had settled roots in over the ten years I was there, I'm finding Atlanta to be close to perfect and have already met many wonderful people as well. Of course I still miss my Augusta family so much, but that is one of the other great things about living here. I am only 2-3 hours away and can do 2-3 hour drives while sleeping and standing on my head!
A few weeks back, Derek left to go to an anime convention up north. The following weekend, his father was getting married, and since this was all taking place in the north east he decided to stay through the week, leaving me by myself for 10 days. I can't remember the last time we were separated that long before. I have to admit the first few days of peace and quiet and house all to myself was a bit nice. I got so much done. I worked on videos on my site, I cleaned from top to bottom, I put on loud music and danced around with Grace, I watched guilty pleasure tv shows without being ridiculed... hehe. I also made friends with the neighbor girl across the street and had her over some, so it wasn't bad at all. I did miss my friends though and decided to take a mini vacation back to Augusta. Kelly had the house all to himself too and offered to put me up that Thursday night so I packed up a bag of clothes and scooped Grace into the car. We watched Across the Universe and just chilled out all night. The following day, there was Sub-li-mat, aka "goth night" going on at Club Sp@rx and I went up to Sean and Rachel's place to get ready with them. They live out in Harlem and have tons of land and a lake and Grace had an absolute blast racing all around the lake and swimming and chasing bunnies and squirrels. I love being able to let her off leash and watch her run. The greyhound really comes out in her. There's no where around here that I can just let her off leash really so it was nice to see her experience so much joy.
It started to get dark and we started to get ready and put on makeup. Rachel did a steam punk theme with the cutest clock earrings and earth tones outfit. I wore my new black and red lacy skirt with a black vinyl corset trimmed with lace and my cute little lolita platform shoes and fishnets. We both looked kinda smokin that night. he he. Arrived at the club, danced, drank, flirted, took pictures, met cool people, had fun. Kelly showed up and so did Robert in drag and his new roommate, Travis. Kelly wanted to get a hot dog so we ran down the street looking for a vendor and Travis came with. Then Travis pulled me into another club and I never got my street hot dog that night. Inside I ran into a guy that I kinda knew and he asked me to come with him and his friends. In my drunken state I agreed and we ended up in a closed store. Then one of his friends pulled out some coke and I figured out he was wanting to get me high with him. I told him I had to go and excused myself away from them. I was then all by myself on the street at night, dressed like I was, still a bit drunk, trying to figure out which way was back to Sp@rx. lol. The outfit that looks fabulous in the goth club, on the street, made me look weird, so I was slightly embarrassed and trying to find my way back which eventually I did. I stayed there the rest of the night. No more adventures.
After the club closed we went to the after party at Paul's which was fun. Paul and I cooked food on the grill and I did finally get to eat. Maybe too much but it was sooo good. Then I crashed back at Rachel and Sean's. The next day we chilled out and watched Brave Heart. Sean was so sweet and made me breakfast. They had to go to meet Sean's mother for dinner so I hugged them and left again for friends' house #3.
Dana and Gary are my theater friends that I did Rocky Horror and other shows with, and like to hold role playing dinner parties. The first one I was involved in I played a vampire. The second one, was Greek gods and goddesses and I was Perses the sea nymph. This time around they held Pirates and I played an Arabian belly dancer who ends up in the new world. I was the only Arabian. Everyone else was either a pirate, a navy man, or a native. The whole backyard was decorated so cute. There was even a pirate ship! It was so hot and muggy that night that I was so thankful to be cast in something with so much exposed skin. ha ha. I brought coconut rum and mixed it with blue curacao and it tasted kinda like a pina colada and looked like Caribbean water. very yummy. Several people asked for what I had and the rum got used up fast. Then of course everyone was asking why the rum was gone. I didn't find the treasure but I had fun. I changed into my pirate bikini and jumped in the hot cold tub and got everyone else to jump in with me. It felt great. Grace had a great time too and made friends with their dalmatian Lucky.
After the party was over I was really missing my own bed and decided to just head back rather than crash again. I thought I would be needing to get the house ready for Derek to come back the next day, but his mom had asked him to stay another day to see relatives some more. I was really sad because, even though I had been seeing a lot of people, I had missed him like crazy. I was cuddle deprived. When he finally got back life was good again.
Now, I am trying to get ready for a trip I'm taking to Vegas. I'm leaving Friday and gone for a week. As soon as I return I will be modeling for Fierce Couture latex at the Jungle Club for the skin two party and am quite excited to be doing runway for them again. Yes, I'm too short and curvy to be a runway model but fetish fashion is a bit different. I hope to see some friendly faces there! Come out if you can! http://www.atlantagothic.net/node/47
Since I'll be gone I've been working on getting ahead with my website. So many new changes for my site as well. I just got an HD camcorder that is amazing and shoots large, HD movies. If you like the movies I do now you will LOVE the new quality. Yesterday I traveled up north to a gorgeous, pristine location. Acres and acres of land owned by Logan, one of the band members of Emerald Rose , who perform at Dragon*con every year. I got to listen to some of their newest tracks and see where the magic takes place. They are furiously working on a new CD but took time out for me. After seeing the place I got many more ideas for what I could shoot there next time I'm up. This time around I just brought some silver and blue belly dancer gear and it worked well with the giant celtic rocks and gorgeous woodland surroundings. Oh to live there. But, I'm a city girl at heart. In the distance Logan's dogs started baying and he said it was because they had found a deer. I looked down, and just at my feet there was a tiny baby deer laying perfectly still. They must have been chasing it's mother off. I didn't want to disturb the angel but I did take a picture with him/her before moving on. After the successful shoot we did some fishing, enjoying the sunset and fireflies and sounds of nature. It's been a very busy but wonderful summer so far.

New Year
Happy 2008!! 2007 was an eventful and fun year. I got to fly to Mexico to guest appear at a convention, sing and perform as Janet in the Rocky Horror Show live, make some great new friends while doing the shows, visit Sea World and Universal Studios, sail to the Caribbean islands with my mom, and be maid of honor in Rachel's wedding to name a few highlights. I feel that I've changed and grown so much as a person. I've grown a lot wiser in the ways of the world. Looking back I can't believe I thought I was done growing up at 21.
I had a good Christmas up north in Maryland with Derek's family. It's too bad it didn't snow but it was pretty chilly and felt like winter. They live kinda out in the country where there's tons of deer and geese and foxes. It's really pretty. I get along great with everyone, especially his mom who is amazing and very sweet. I still couldn't help but miss my own friends and family on Christmas though. The holidays took up almost all of my free time for the month of December and I haven't been able to see or catch up with anyone in weeks which I'm not used to. We had a rough time figuring out what to do with the animals before we left as well and the only decision we could come to was to drive them all the way down to Florida to stay with my parents before leaving for north. Thusly, I am down in Florida right now to get them back and see my parents for a few days. The drive down was incredibly long even though I had favorable traffic and weather. It's really a pain being so far away from both our families but how life is at the moment I suppose. Grace was incredibly excited to see me, knocking me down and slurping my face off practically. Even the ferrets seemed excited which was really cute. I even got little ferret kisses.
My sleep pattern is all turned around to a night one again. I swear I will always be a bat girl. There's really nothing to do though so I guess I'll try to get some sleep. All three dogs are attached to my hip and want to sleep in the bed with me. lol. This might be a problem...

seasonal weight gain fun
Grrr. Well it seems that since Dragon*Con I have let my guard down a tiny bit with going on a cruise and with the holidays approaching and various things and a few of the lbs that I worked so freakishly hard on getting rid of have krept back onto my small frame. This really wouldn't be much, but I want to stop it in it's tracks and reverse it now rather than wait till New Years so it looks like I will be back to really counting calories and kicking it up a knotch with working out harder and more days of the week. If people want to know how I stay in shape this is how! lol. It's not easy and never has been.
I actually have a suspician that weight gain during this time of year is actually more biological than having to do with stuffing and pie and candy. Fattening food and big meals is something we surround ourself all year long with really, but in my experience it has always been a breeze to keep weight off (or lose if it was my goal to) during the Spring and Summer months but it never fails that as soon as Fall hits I start really struggling and start to feel depressed and crave comfort food more. It's almost as if it's in my biology to store up some fat stores for the long winter months. I got to thinking about this when I noticed my ferrets getting quite chubby, and I looked it up and read "Ferrets will gain weight during fall for winter and will start losing weight during spring for summer. They will have a full winter coat and a lighter summer coat. " How does the ferret's body or a bear's body or some other animal know when these months have hit them? Is it the amount of daylight recieved through their eyes? Is it the change in air temperature? My ferrets stay inside all year long yet their bodies still know it is Fall! This question really interests me, yet I've always read that even scientists aren't quite sure how an animal "knows" when it's time to start changing it's coat to a more suitable color or thickness, and I really wonder if there is a relation to do with humans with gaining weight during fall and winter and losing during spring and summer, because this is the pattern that I have experienced year in and year out in my life, and I'm starting to believe it has less to do with my personal efforts. I do know that this is not the time to let my guard down though and I'm determined to work extra hard if need be and still not wait until January. I will not be a slave to genetics or thousands of years of evolutionary survival tactics! lol. It's never a bad thing to eat healthier and excercise more at any rate, but I am so incredibly looking forward to getting through these months and back to not having to struggle so much with something like my body, so I can instead focus on other important things in my life.

Dragon*Con
I had so much fun. I'm sad it's over. I've finally recovered. It was great seeing so many of you!!! Off to catch up on real life for now. Hopefully I'll be able to write more soon. I wore Princess Jasmine, Alice, and a harem girl outfit mainly. If anyone has any pics they took of my outfits or of hanging out having fun I would love to see. :)
